I was so bored today that I can't even get out of my bed. I don't know what I should do. I just browse the web, look for something to watch or maybe something to read. Then I came upon this video on YouTube. The video is a DIY or a do-it-yourself / homemade Reese's peanut butter cups. It was easy to do and I remember I still have some chocolate block leftover during the holidays. So I decided I should give this a try.
So here are the things needed to create your homemade peanut butter cups.
The Ingredients:
2 cups milk chocolate chips
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 cup powdered sugar
The Directions:
Peanut Butter Filling:
1. Combine the peanut butter, powdered sugar and butter until smooth. Set aside.
The chocolate:
1. In a microwave, melt the chocolate chips until smooth and spreadable.
2. If you don't have a microwave, use a sauce pan and mixing bowl to form a double boiler. Put 1 - 3 inches of water in you sauce pan. Your sauce pan should be high enough that your mixing bowl does not touch the water. place you chocolate chips in the mixing bowl while the water is simmering. Gently stir the chocolate until desired consistency is met.
Assembling:
1. Get your molds then put a layer of chocolate first. Spread the chocolate in the bottom and the sides of the molds. Don't forget to spread the chocolate evenly in your molds. Put in the freezer for about 2-3 minutes or until it hardened enough.
PS: You can use small cupcake liners or chocolate silicone molds for this.
2. Get your peanut butter filling. Put a layer of the filling but don't over flow. Leave a space for chocolate on the top. Chill again for 2-3 minutes or until the filling is not sticky anymore.
3. Lastly, cover the top of your candy with the leftover melted chocolate. Put in the freezer until ready to eat.
PS again: You can add topping if you want. It's you choice.
Here's a picture of my homemade peanut butter cups!
Sorry I am not that good at doing this. But the taste is good, presentation is decent, right? Hope you enjoyed this recipe. Try this and let me know in the comment section about yours.
